Florida A&M University Campus Report, January 13, 2006

            Drs. Dreamal Worthen and Mary Diallo provided the following report:

            A synopsis of events on the FAMU campus during Fall 2005 follows.

            Constitution Revision Committee

            Committee members began revising some sections of the FAMU Constitution during the fall.

            Financial Report to the State

            FAMU submitted its financial statement on time and ended the fiscal year with a reported 8-million dollar surplus. 

            Presidential Search

            The FAMU Board of Trustees launched a search for a new president in October 2005.  Trustee R. B. Holmes chairs the Presidential Search Committee.

            Presidential Evaluation

            Members of the Board of Trustees evaluated Interim President Castell Bryant, giving her an overall excellent rating and a $35,000 bonus.  The BOT offered her another contract that would extend her tenure up to two years.

            Collective Bargaining

            FAMU and UFF are at an impasse.  The two negotiation teams last met in early November 2005.

            Compensation Study

            The Hay Group will conduct a compensation study of all positions at FAMU.  The compensation study for administrative and professional positions is currently underway.

            FAMU Law School

            The FAMU Law School moved into its new building this fall.  The next BOT meeting will be held in the new building in March.
