Debra Austin, former Chancellor of the State University System, has been appointed Provost and Vice President.  This appointment caused some concern among faculty because of a lack of faculty participation in the search process.  President Castell Bryant discussed these concerns during a special called meeting of the Faculty Senate on Thursday, August 25, 2005.

Dr. Bryant has announced that the groundbreaking for the Multi-Purpose Gym and the Development Research School (DRS) will take place on Wednesday October 5, 2005.

The resurrected FAMU College of Law open its doors in 2002 and graduated its first class in May 2005.  Fall enrollment figures reveal that 175 students – a record number – have enrolled in FAMU’s College of Law this fall.

The School of Journalism and Graphic Communication moved into its new building in August 2005.

The Faculty Planning Conference was held August 17-19, 2005.  The Conference activities focused on the upcoming Southern Association of Colleges and School’s accreditation review.
