Florida State University System

Welcome to the Advisory Council of Faculty Senates web site

The ACFS works for better and higher quality educational opportunities in the system of public four-year colleges and universities in the State of Florida. It provides a forum for discussion of issues of importance to higher education in Florida by faculty and provides input to the governance process from a faculty perspective. The ACFS

  • Represents the University Faculty Senates of public universities and colleges in advising the Chancellor, the Board of Governors, the Board of Education, the Legislature, and other officials and organizations involved in the establishment of policies, administration, or funding of public higher education in the State of Florida;
  • Facilitates communication, cooperation, and interaction among the university and college faculty, educators and supporters of education in the State of Florida;
  • Function as a liaison between the ACFS membership and other state, local and national collegiate organizations;
  • Promotes university and college faculty involvement in the decision making process affecting universities and colleges, and contribute solutions to educational challenges and needs; and
  • Provides a forum for all university and college faculty in the ACFS member institutions.

ACFS membership consists of two representatives from the faculty senate at each of the eleven institutions in the SUS designated by the institution. One of those members is normally the president of the faculty senate who serves as a member of the institution Board of Trustees. The chair of the ACFS serves as a member of the Board of Governors of the State University System of Florida.
